Priyanka Chopra’s mother, Madhu Chopra, opened up about how she raised her two kids with the help of her parents. Her parents would look after Priyanka and Siddharth when she would be at her clinic. However, once she was home, they had all her attention. Madhu also spoke about how kids can get misguided and blame their parents for their behaviours and leave them behind once they start earning.
Madhu Chopra said on Rubina Dilaik’s YouTube channel, “My kids, when they were really small and we were also young, they spent their childhood at my parents’ house. There was a lot of support from their side.”
She shared, “We worked with complete focus and dedication, but when we spent time with our kids, it was quality time. There was no interruption at that time. No phone calls, no patients, just 100 percent focus on the kids. So the kids were always happy with that. They knew that ‘grown ups always come back’, we always made sure that our kids knew about it.”
Reflecting on how kids blame parents for their behaviors, Madhu said, “Sometimes, kids get misguided. They start earning, move out, and parents get left behind. I hear so many kids complaining about their childhood. ‘We are carrying the scars of our childhood, that is why we are like this’. They say, ‘That’s why we are smoking up or doing something bad.’ That is wrong.”
“Even if your parents treated you badly, they were doing the best they could. Something was wrong with you, which is why they had to change themselves. You didn’t improve yourself, so the fault is in you, not in the parent who has done the best for you. I tell them to introspect and improve themselves. Until you realise that, you can’t change your path, and you can’t do the right thing,” she concluded.
