Investigation after baby dies at Meath property

Gardaí have said they are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the death of a baby at a residential property in Co Meath, which was reported last night.

The deceased baby has been removed to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination, which will take place in due course.

The State Pathologist will conduct the post-mortem examination, the results of which gardaí have said will determine the course of their investigation.

Gardaí say they are aware of the sensitivities surrounding this investigation and will be treating it as such.

Investigations are said to be ongoing.
