Hi! Could you do an anonymous post for me please?
My son is about to turn one year old and we have moved back in with my dad, just the two of us. That also means my son and I share a room currently and for the foreseeable future.
He’s waking about 2-3 times in the night, between midnight and 1am and around 3:30am, then around 5-6am. I’m exhausted. I know, it could be worse, but I don’t have help in the night and I don’t get a proper sleep. What could I do to soothe him without a bottle and get him to sleep through the night?
He used to sleep so well! Then we went on a 3 week holiday and moved house, he’s also trying to learn to walk, learning new skills and getting better at eating solids, so I can understand it’s due to these reasons too.
I saw some moms on here recommended patting them on the bum/belly, “shhh”-ing etc, but this doesn’t really work with mine, especially as he’s awake, he’s standing in bed and starting to cry. He used to have a lullaby on from his swing, but I had to sell it as we had no space for it due to moving. Should I get a lullaby machine? Anyone have recommendations?
He doesn’t like dummies, rather sucks his thumb, so I can’t use a dummy either to soothe.
I’d really appreciate some advice and thank you.
*Can I just add he’s also teething, so things are extra tricky at the minute.

Physical activities a little while before bed to burn more energy then calming down time with cuddles (if that’s what he likes) reading, etc. Iv just played sleeping meditation music (or kids sleeping music) on my phone at night time.
It can also depend on how he’s waking, example is it slowly and drowsy or is he wide awake crying as soon as he wakes? If you can soothe him as he’s starting to wake (he would be stirring or fidgeting) can help with the routine to sleeping abit longer. Is he waking for milk? Nappy change? Is there something bothering him that’s making him restless?
