Private post pretty please!

My little boy is 2.5year old and he sticks to us like gorilla glue! We took him to soft play yesterday and he stuck to us wouldn’t go play obviously we went with him, within 30 minutes he wanted to go home and was crying.
We had our other little baby 4 months ago, we left him with his grandparents to give our little boy some time and he kept saying he missed his brother.
Even when his brother is with us he still sticks to us like gorilla glue! What can we do to encourage him he is ok to go play at soft play etc?

  1. He probably needs more time. Is he content to sit with you and just watch? After a few sessions of watching he might attempt to play on the edge and eventually play with another quiet child on the edge of activities? I can relate. 70 years ago, I used to just walk around the playground, frightened by the noise and activity. I was invited to learn to skip, but was too timid to try. I spent my whole childhood being ‘invisible’. He may be neuro-divergent which it now appears I was. Being ‘invisible’ is not all bad though, if it gives you a sense of peace and security.

  2. My daughter was exactly the same, and is now 13 years old and is still the same, shes autistic and got ADHD. She will not leave my side, we spent every day at nursery, school trying to get her to go into school without them having to physically pull her off me. She should have gone to high-school last September but couldnt get her through the door, so she is now home educated and it’s the best thing we’ve every done.
Just keep taking him places and let him sit on your knee while playing, and eventually he may play a few steps away from you. Good luck, sending my love to you ❤️ xx
