I’m looking for some advice from anyone who has been through something similar and managed to move forward after their partner cheated.

I was in a long-term relationship and, unfortunately, I introduced my partner to the person they ended up having an affair with. It became a very messy and painful situation over a couple of months. They slept together multiple times in my own home while I was out, and I eventually walked in on them myself. So there are a lot of painful memories and emotions attached to what happened.

Despite everything, I want to try and move forward with my partner. I’m willing to put what happened in the past and give us another chance, but I’m worried about how the betrayal will affect me long-term and whether I’ll ever truly be able to trust again.

For anyone who has been through something similar, how did you learn to move past it? Did the hurt and insecurity eventually get easier? And what helped you rebuild the trust and feel secure in your relationship again?

  1. Absolutely not, I broke my own heart walking away from a guy I genuinely loved because he cheated, deleted messages and disrespected me, yes it hurt but I’m thankful I chose to respect myself as trust can never be rebuilt especially after a full blown affair xxx

  2. I don’t believe you will ever fully be present in a relationship where there has been cheating. Unless you completely forgive. If you cannot do these you have to give yourself grace and move on. Personally that’s a huge mistake to have to overcome, and one that shouldn’t be taken lightly as in most cases a lot of people would never entertain the thought of wanting to carry on with someone that is willing to cheat on you

  3. In my opinion trust isn’t really something that can be rebuilt after such a betrayal 🙁 doubts will creep in, you’ll want to check up on him all the time (understandably) and eventually either you not trusting or him feeling controlled/unbelieved/not trusted will eat away at one of you or both
