Looking for some advice I have two children and me and the other parent do not co parent very well at all so it’s difficult for me to speak regarding how I feel about things as everything I say gets taken as an offence and it ends up heated. Parent aloud our 2 children to go swimming by them selfs while they were last there , they are only aged 10&11 the parent dropped them off and went back for them in a few hours. My children can swim but i personally feel that isn’t appropriate, I am aware I am a lot more stricter but it’s all about keeping them safe for me. When I go swimming with my kids I don’t let them go to the toilet them selfs because the world we live in now is scary! I go with them incase anyone follows them in. Same in restaurants So the thought of them being alone for hours half naked at a pool just gives me massive anxiety not to mention if they struggle in the water. How would you approach this as there due to go back again and there already talking about hopefully going again without there other parent. If I go to the parent and say I don’t feel comfortable with it I am going to get told what happens when the kids are there isn’t anything to do with me. This is not about control as that’s another thing that would be said this is down to safe guarding and I will admit my own anxiety’s over keeping them safe. I just don’t want an argument. My eldest is going into primary 7 this year and others the same age are aloud to go on a bus to the local town then selfs and I haven’t aloud it. I have said I will speak to there other parent about allowing it next summer when my eldest is due to go to first year but I would have spoken to the other parent first before making that decision. I guess that’s the difference between the two of us I would consider the feelings of the other parent before making decisions like that.

  1. Regarding the swimming. My daughter is the same age -11. All her friends also go swimming in their own. She wants to so I said I’d take her and sit and watch and she can go in the swimming pool with her friends.

Just say can u go with them swimming,

  2. They are 10 + 11 and as long as they don’t have additional needs where it wouldn’t be appropriate to go alone he can decide if he thinks there mature enough to go alone

He’s collecting them and picking them up and it’s quite normal for children this age

If it’s in a leisure centre there will be lifeguards and staff on duty
