My daughter wants the most expensive school shoes £110!!
I’ve bought all of the clothing, stationary etc for my two children and my son £55 pair of school shoes
I simply cannot afford £110! Her heart is set on them and she won’t budge. Is it fair I ask her to pay for half?

She wants them that bad she is old enough to realise you can’t afford them but yes I would get her to pay half if she wants them that bad she will put half towards

Absolutely ask her if it’s above what you can afford more chance of her looking after them if she’s paid half!
Yes if she wants them get her to work for them, myself at 30 has never spent that much on any shoes. Don’t want to sound to negative but she should be grateful what she has at the moment they is kids out there with nothing. What ever my parents got I wore, probably the only negative thing I came across with school stuff is wanting the latest ‘new trend’ bag..
You also need to think about if you don’t pay full or she doesn’t pay half she can always say she’ll refuse to go to school. Good luck hopefully something will be solved x
A 14 year old should realise what she’s asking for. If she wants something above your budget she can save and buy them herself.
If its above your budget and she has money to contribute then seems like her only option to get the shoes she wants
If you simply can’t afford them, your options are to say no and let her know the budget or ask her to contribute. Mine haven’t always had what they wanted for the exact same reason. They have appreciated when they could have what they ask for as a result of not always getting it but also keep their expectations realistic. If your daughter really won’t budge and also won’t contribute then let her go in whatever shoes she has and send a note to school explaining that you accept no responsibility for her not being in uniform but that she must bear the consequences. A reality check, if you will.
If I even tried to get more than a pair of £20 school schools my mother would have absolutely told me no. Like em or lump em, but these are what you’re getting.
There’s going to be things in life she can’t afford as an adult, and now, as a teen, she needs to learn no is a complete answer.
If your saying she could afford half then surely she could afford them herself?!
