Does anyone else have a very difficult teen? I’m struggling with my middle girl age 14. Her moods are up and down throughout the day and I feel like I’m always walking on eggshells around her. My elder girl age 17 wasn’t like this. Is it connected to autism? (She doesn’t have an official diagnosis yet but she does display signs)
When something happens whether minor or serious, she becomes extremely hysterical and dramatic. If she cries she’ll be shaking and howling. It’s not even an act, this is just how she has been for the last few years which has steadily got worse. I tell her to calm down and take deep breaths which is usually met with swearing and name calling.
At least 2-3 times a week she will refuse to speak to me and turns her nose up in disgust towards all of her family for no reason.
When she is in a good mood she is very clingy, to the point where she is draining because she won’t leave me alone or stop talking for a minute. (I still always make sure she knows I want to spend time with her and there isn’t any negativity).
She texts her dad about me calling me names and claiming I’m abusive. She tells me she’s seen TikTok videos about toxic parents and I should watch them. She knows this is triggering to me because I had an abusive childhood and have no contact with my family, I thought I ended the cycle and gave my children a good life. Nothing I do is good enough.
If anyone can offer any advice I’d really appreciate it, I’m at the end of my tether with her ruling the household. Thanks
