Are police likely to do anything if there has been common assault and a long list of emotional abuse towards a child. Don’t want to put my daughter through police interviews etc if it’s going to go nowhere.

What the hell??? If she’s been assaulted it needs reporting no matter what you want or the time it will take.
Under GIRFEC this should be reported asap
Either way shes a child and must be protected
