So me and my partner have recently moved in together (they moved into my home with my children)
My step child comes and stays every other weekend, which isn’t a problem at all.. but now I’m expected to give up my bedroom/bed and sleep with my daughter so my partner and his child can share our bed??? Context my step child is 8. My daughter has said she will share her room etc and her bed as she has a double. My partner says I’m selfish for not giving my bed up so he can sleep with his daughter in it??
My children also have a bed time of 9.30 at the latest and they are the same age as my step child. However my step child is allowed to stay up until whatever time, sometimes it’s 12/1am😩 whenever it’s brought up I’m the selfish one??
My partner knew what the sleeping arrangements would be before moving in and it just feels like now it’s not stuck too whatsoever.

I’d say sorry you’re guna have to move back out and live your own way that’s your house there ur rules & routine !
That’s just beyond odd
She is 8 why does he need to sleep with an 8 year old
Have you asked his step daughter where she’d like to sleep
Where did she sleep at his house
Think about getting rid before it gets worse
The fact you had this conversation prior to him moving in; is a red flag. It’s like he feels he can control this with no hesitation or concept off the bedtime routine you have and your step daughter should have too, so she isn’t tired for school Monday 😢😢 it’s only going to push you away from your step daughter and will get worse. I’ve been there and it’s horrific and not worth it. Are you on friendly terms with her mum? Could you get advice from her? Does she sleep with her mum? I love a snuggle night with my daughter but not full time it’s not healthy and your wee girls offering a olive branch and been pushed aside by your partner too, this isn’t healthy xxxx
No absolutely not. Tell him no. That’s not even normal. My stepdaughters share rooms with my daughters.
Absolutely not, that sounds very odd to me that he would even suggest that.
Sorry but that’s just weird. The girls will probably love a sleepover and you can make it fun for them with games/movies.
Definitely not give your bed up..she can share with your daughter..or maybe get one of those sleeping bag beds and sleep on floor with your daughter..kids might enjoy it…
Few things, daughter maybe needs bunk beds with a double on bottom so steo child has their own bed as sharing a bed isnt fair, she should be able to have everything your child had, but same rules should apply, I think you and ur partner have alot to talk about tbh or its not going to work for long at all. Dont want to put any of the kids through all of this for nothing better to find out now its not working and no room for negotiation than down the line
How long have you been with your partner? Did this not get discussed before moving in? I would definitely not be giving up my bed. And why does he need to sleep with his daughter? She is 8 and should be sleeping in her own bed….
