Mother / Daughter from Angus, Scotland ** Update **

I thought it was important to send an update as i had so many lovely comments and suggestions and i am so grateful i really am but reality is very different.
Yes after 6-8 months of planning to get out of our family home I wasn’t thinking of what the “after” would look like. (Stupid i know).
Firstly people suggested to get a payment holiday on the mortgage i legally need to pay 50% of until that house is sold.
I thought yes if i could get one month as a payment holiday i could use that money to get us a good food shop, some blinds up in the windows and not worry where each meal is coming from or petrol for the car to get to work.
Reached out to the mortgage company – the type of mortgage we have payment holidays are not an option!
People also suggested Universal credit – i am not entitled to that and yes i have called, i am over the pay threshold and because i don’t receive any other benefits they cant help.
And then their is woman’s aid – wow! Came off the phone crying as the woman was so rude! First question, are you on benefits? no i replied, i have worked all my life – sorry we cant help you! I said even with a food bank voucher? no sorry if you were claiming UC we would be able to give you furniture, food vouchers etc.
She ended with your only option as a full time working parent is food banks.
How can this be right?
I had a few people comment who may have other idea’s and i did reach out on messenger. This would go into message requests.
I am seeing citizens advice next week but feeling very down and thinking they are going to say the same. I am dreading next month and how we are going to manage.
I thought this update would be beneficial as although i don’t regret getting my daughter and i out of our house and situation as i couldn’t take it any longer i just think the thought/belief that help is available when you see the adverts on posters or on tv is for people like me who work hard – the reality is very different. I don’t mean i expect help to be at my feet of course i don’t but even to ask a charity for help with a food voucher as my daughter is hungry and they say no sorry but if i called on UC i would get how many beds do you need, yes of course here is your food shop for this week and so on.
This as a society not just for me cant be right.
