Me and my ex split up 8 years ago we mutually agreed that he would give me £70 a week for our son and have him over night on Thursday and Friday nights and bring him home Saturday evening.
There has never been an issue until now.
My son turned 16 In August and does 3 days a week at college and now has a part time job at kfc, he earns around £80- £140 a week. His dad now wants to stop maintenance money AND CHARGE his own son £20 a week rent.
I’ve spoke with my son and he says he thinks £20 is fair, and asked how much he should pay me.
Now I’m the type of person who believes until he has a full time job that is just his fun money.

I wish I’d taken some money from my kids for house keeping and not told them , but put it away for their wedding or their first house etc
Dont think the dad should pay maintenance at 16 but don’t think he should pay rent.
The kid sounds like he is switched on.
You can always take £20 off him and save it and give it to him when he wants to buy his first car.
Depends if he’s putting the £20 aside for when he is 18…but still should be paying you maintenance until he is.
Maintenance should be paid until your son turns 20.
Until that boy is 18 he pays you maintenance.. and until he’s 18 and working full time that’s his pocket money.. I agree with you 💯
Nope i dont think he should be paying board hes still a child till hes 18 so dad should still be paying maintenance plus if hes at college u should still be getting his child benefit
Maintenance should be until 18 and I agree with you that that’s fun money until he gets a full time job and wage
If he was working full time that’s a different story he’s working part time and doing college. His wage won’t be much really and got to think of things he needs himself travel etc.
By law I think he has to pay till 18 but double check that I think might of changed x
