Hello.
Just wondering what people’s views are of baby sleeping on belly.
My 6months old has decided he’d prefer to sleep on his belly the last couple of nights..
I know the guidelines are to sleep on back flat ect. But he’s very strong, turns, nearly crawling. But I’m paranoid bcz it’s been drilled into me he should be on his back, he sleeps with a sleeping bag in a cot in our room if that makes any difference 😃
Thanks x

As long as he can roll both ways its fine. My little one has started this at 6 months too🙈 xx
Once they roll themselves then leave them. I lost so many nights sleep from trying to turn mine back and I should’ve just left him to it
If he can roll over he is going to sleep on his tummy and he can lift his head so I think it’s ok but no pillows or anything in his cot but I would ask health visitor first xxxx
If he can roll back and forth leave him be. Just check on him as you normally would.
My sons 4 and has been a belly sleeper since he could roll too.
At 6 months and able to move by himself I wouldn’t worry it’s for the newborns that’s back sleeping feet to foot etc
My 1st (2015) was a belly sleeper from birth.
My 2nd (2025) did a bit of both.
The guidelines are if they can roll both way its concidered safe
Once they can roll over its really up to them how they sleep, mine both slept on their tummies and were fine
When I had my second baby I was encouraged to put him to sleep on his tummy while two years earlier I had been told his sister should go on her side. Putting a baby on their back to sleep was discouraged in case it vomitted. Do what you feel is right for your baby.
