Can my sons school do this?? He has mild epilepsy which is controlled by medication at home. He has had it all his life and school have manged it absolutely fine. In the last year he has had 2 small seizures at school. They are banning him from going to a breakfast club but he is fine to do after school clubs such as running club which is off school grounds with 3 staff members??

Have they just told you this, with a week to go until school goes back, so you now only have few days to arrange care for after school.
To me it reads as he cant do anything after school due to staffing issues. Nothing about breakfast club? Very disappointing 😞 although god forbid anything did happen they wouldn’t properly prepared for it. At least they are being truthful x

I don’t read anything anything breakfast club it just says aftershool club but it could be implied but using the word wrap around care, which would include breakfast club. As I read it though he won’t be allowed to either. As unfortunate as it is, yes they can do it if they don’t have the trained staff for it, unless he has an EHCP which you could fight it
Guidelines around trained staff have changed. It would seem the wraparound care staff will not be trained in this, specific staff are now been assigned to each individual child. And would imagine the other activities are run by the teachers/teaching assistants?
