Can I have a private post please?
My daughter has just turned 9 and been diagnosed with dyslexia. Shes always had mood swings and gets extremely frustrated and angry and hurtful and nasty then cries and says she doesn’t know why she does it. Her father and I split up 3 years ago and we’ve met other people. Today I took her to the cinema and she got really frustrated because the cinema opened for her show and I was getting popcorn for my other child. She came over shouting ranting and raving so I grabbed her arm and said I’d take her home and she slapped me across the face so hard the popcorn went everywhere. The staff came over to see if I was ok. I don’t know why I’m posting here. I took her home and took her phone and she’s in her room with no tv. What do I do now? She hates me and treats me like dirt yet doesn’t do that with her other parent. It’s always me who gets treated with zero respect.

Dyslexia has absolutely nothing to do with behaviour.
ADHD maybe
I have the same with my 9 soon to be 10 year old daughter….currently waiting for a autism/adhd diagnosis!! Girls like to mask their feelings so when they are with their safe person (you) they will let rip and unfortunately we get the brunt of the meltdowns!! You done the right thing by taking her home!! Keep your head high you are doing amazing x
I will just put it out there dislexyia and ADHD can go hand in hand I have both of ur worried there no harm booking gp appointment
Dyslexia has nothing to do with her behaviour if this helps you in any kind of way. There’s something more going on there, if she’s like this all of the time may be a good idea to get her checked by a medical professional with a right to choose option. If this is genuinely bad behaviour I’d consider stricter punishments and talking to the other parent to have these punishments put in place when it happens
