Confiscate phone for one month at least!!!
Children dont need social media, our childhood were totally different to kids these days we were actually kids being kids! The quicker the ban comes in the better! My daughter is 14 she dont have social media its dangerous!
In my humble opinion an 11 year old shouldn’t be on tiktok at all! But in thia case I would explain to her the consequences of her actions. I would definitely go down the educational path instead of punishment
I’d be taking her phone off her for more than 3 days, I’d also ban tik tok and any other social media platforms. My kids weren’t allowed phones with internet until they where 13 then I used to watch what they where up to, this parenting doesn’t get any easier. My mom used to say they break your arms when they are little and break your heart when there older. I’d also have a restriction on how long she’s on the internet. Good luck x
She 11 and TikTok is for 13+. 16+ as of march.
I wouldn’t tell her off at all, just teach her what could happen. Not her fault at all I’d say yours for not checking what she does on TikTok you can all learn from this
Talk to her about online safety and the dangers etc. Personally I wouldn’t have punished her by taking her phone away but I would have deleted the app and put restrictions on what apps she can and can’t download, she is only 11.
The law changes soon so no under 16s on socials. My daughters 12 & was being spoken to by ‘a friend’. Random guy asking for inappropriate photos. I was livid.
Didn’t punish her (no photos sent) & blocked him. Sat her down, explained the seriousness of it & Everytime he’s messaged her on another number, she brings her phone to me. Then she was kicked off TikTok & asked to put her age in & ID. A day later she was kicked off fb & asked for ID proof. So she now has no social media thankfully. But I’d defo explain the seriousness to her & check her phone regularly.
Tbh, i dont see the issue. She’s not exactly parading around in her underwear.
Just talk to her about online safety, put her account private so only friends can add. In the bio put account controlled by parents and monitor her activities.
Instead of punishment, go for the education route. Have indepth talks with her about online safety and what can and does happen online. Also let her know you’ll be randomly going on her devices. X
Explain the dangers of posting on the internet. There are several programmes highlighting the dangers. Sit down with her and watch them. Show her what can happen if she isn’t careful about what she posts.
It’s better to show the danger than take the device away, otherwise she won’t learn the dangers and will continue to post once the phone has been returned.
