I am a single mum to a 19 year old severely disabled son, he has a number of health conditions such as autism, adhd, gastrointestinal issues, I cannot cope anymore! He goes out with carers for 4/5 hours 3 times a week and college twice a week.
I’ve come to hate him, I hate the mess he makes, I can’t stand the stimming or the slurping, the chewing the melt downs but what I hate the most is I hate who I become when I’m around him.
I dread him coming home, don’t get me wrong I love him but I can’t cope anymore and going to have to rehome him someone else, does anyone know any books or videos to explain to him about moving somewhere else?

Wow sorry to be the one to have to say this but firstly you spoke of him like a dog….”I’m going to have to remove him”. And secondly how can you hate your own child? I’m not saying it’s easy with him being severely disabled but just WOW you obviously have a support network around you, so please just ask for extra help. I wouldn’t be looking at books for him….I’d be looking at books for yourself and how to cope better!
See can you get respite care for him you can have a break your burned out
You need a break.
You don’t hate him.
Your overwhelmed.
Your in need of a break, you dont need to “rehome” him, you could look into respite for him every couple of months. You need to recharge and that is okay, your only human. But please dont make any rash decisions when your tired and overwhelmed. You dont hate him x
