Hello please could I have a private post?
Hi,
I’m 38 and have just found out I am 5 weeks pregnant (unexpected) I have a husband who i have been with 20 years who is very supportive and I have a 7 year old.
I have really mixed feelings, I have a great job and I feel fully settled with my life being the 3 of us.
I love our child so much and I love being at every stage, every football game etc, I just don’t know how to feel, I don’t want my child’s life to change. I’m worried about the age gap and upsetting what we have as a 3.
I am just filled with such dread, guilt and anxiety while feeling greatful all at the same time 😢.
Is it normal to feel this way, I’m not sure how I could love another child as much as I do my 7 year old

Congratulations 🥂 you will love this new blessing how exciting some special bonding will bring you all even closer together x all the best for you and your family and new baby
I really struggled with this when I fell pregnant with my second child (a good few years ago) and a friend told me your love doesn’t half it doubles and it was the truest statement I ever heard xx
Okay so first of all don’t feel any guilt for loving your life the way it is.. that’s absolutely okay.
Secondly a baby would just fit but I’ll be honest, I’m 38 and couldn’t imagine having a baby now. The age gap is huge and my body would just dread the sleepless nights etc
Also I have two children and I felt the exact same about not loving your second like you do your first and I promise you… you do! It just happens!
If you want me to be so so honest… if it was me now.. I wouldn’t have another baby but only you and your husband can make that decision xxx
Look sometimes 1 is best!
Sometimes 2.
No one can answer this but I’ve seen people not cope with 2, it depends on what you can take on yourself. Good luck!
Hello Mommy, this is happiness on the way. Been there and done that! 2 years ago!
The elder sibling will have a friend for life, even when parents aren’t around one day!
All the best.
I have a 8 year age gap, two boys ☺️ I love it! Have a great relationship with my 15 year old but he is getting too old to do stuff with us now but my 7 year old is still in that lovely always with mum and dad phase! Both play football and one of us is always at the sidelines!! I think you’ll be grateful for the little one as your eldest grows up 🥰 xx
I had this last year at 37 have 3 children 16 14 11, and found out was expecting, was such a difficult decision but now our little girl is here, she just slotted into life and she adores her siblings as do they her and they will truly have a friend for life, i have experienced having babies with toddlers running around and this experience as been the best being able to enjoy every moment and sharing it with her brothers and sister as just been the best, do what is best for you and your family x
100% your choice! That said if i were to offer advice based on my experience youd be surprised at how resiliant you are and how you rise to the challenge when another baby arrives. Also another child to love and a sibling for your older child.
My sister and I are 7 years apart… there was a good while where I was a teen and she was a child that we didn’t get along, then all of a sudden we were best friends and we still are super close.
I think a lot of mums feel a bit that way with their second, but our hearts have this amazing ability to multiply the love for our children ❤️
