Father throws two children into irrigation canal, girl drowns in Konaseema

DRAKSHARAMAM 

A six-year-old girl drowned while her brother survived after they were thrown into an irrigation canal by their father near Nelaparthipadu village under Draksharamam police limits in Dr.B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema District. The incident occurred on March 17 and came to light after the girl’s body was found in the canal. 

Pilli Raju has allegedly taken his two children, ten-year-old Sandeep and Karunya (6), to the irrigation canal on a two-wheeler in a bid to eliminate them reportedly due to personal problems, said Draksharamam Circle Inspector Mr. Venkat Narayana. The boy Sandeep managed to swim to the shores and survived. 

The family is a native of Venturu village of Rayavaram Mandal in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district. 

Raju has been absconding after he threw away his children into the canal. “We are searching for Mr. Raju who has not been traced. The dead body of Karunya has been retrieved and sent to a government hospital for post-mortem”, said CI Mr. Venkata Narayana. The police registered a case and the investigation is on.
