Suspect accused of killing his father during argument identified
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Authorities have identified the man accused of killing his father during an argument in Las Vegas on Monday.
Carlos Magana, 32, was booked into Clark County Detention Center on suspicion of open murder, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said Tuesday.
A woman called 911 around 7:33 a.m. Monday saying her brother stabbed their father in the 1900 block of Rexford Drive, near Las Vegas Boulevard and Sahara Avenue, according to police.
Officers found a man suffering from apparent stab wounds and pronounced him dead at the scene.
Magana was taken into custody at the scene. Investigators believe Magana “woke up upset with his father,” and during their argument, Magana stabbed him multiple times with a kitchen knife.
Court records indicate Magana did not appear for a court hearing scheduled for Tuesday morning. The hearing was continued to Thursday, March 27.
