“Have you or someone you know recently had a baby? 💕 Here’s what you can expect during those first 6 weeks 👇🏻 👶🏼Lots of feeding, learning to feed and latch and finding a rhythm, it can take 6 weeks for breastfeeding to be well established. 👶🏼Lots of sleep! Newborns are sleepy. Their ‘awake windows’ will likely consist of a feed and a nappy change before dozing back off to sleep. 👶🏼Short bursts of sleep. Little power naps can be really normal! Your baby might sleep 15/20/30 minutes or they might sleep 2 hours. Sleep is truly unpredictable for newborns. 👶🏼Hands on assistance, as newborns have no ability to self settle, they need lots of extra hands on to settle them to sleep. 👶🏼Long long nights. Frequent night wakes and frequent night feeds, some hourly, some two hourly are NORMAL in those early weeks. Your baby is adjusting to life outside of mumma! 👶🏼Contact naps! They’ve just lived inside mumma for 9(ish) months, they want / need that closeness to soothe them and help them to sleep and feel safe. 👶🏼Cluster feeding, frequent feeds, generally of an evening. This will happen on and off for those first 6 weeks, particularly around those first couple of growth spurts! 👶🏼Swaddling to help the startle reflex. New babies will often wake themselves with a startle if not swaddled when sleeping, continue to swaddle until your baby shows signs of rolling. 👶🏼 IT ENDS, hang in there mumma. The hazy newborn days feel like they last forever when you’re in the thick of it but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. ⭐ SAVE & SHARE this reel with a new mumma & tell us in the comments what the first 6 weeks looked like for you ❤️” – @thesleepylittlebubs #lovetodream #newborn
