Absolutely not mum related!!! An elderly neighbour passed away and her family have just left the ladies 17 year old cat behind, I have 3 of my own cats and this old man isn’t bothered by them at all.
We have taken the cat in, feed it, treat fleas, worms etc all fine!!
But… it shits everywhere and I mean everywhere, it can’t walk very far so struggles to get outside, we’ve tried litter trays but again even if it’s close by it runs out of energy and just poops where he’s stood.
Has anyone used cat nappies??? Do they work or does the cat just rip them off?

Probably its age, has it been vet checked? It’s probably grieving the loss of its owner as well
Have you got a utility room or similar that could be it’s home? I feel he won’t have many years left bless him, so maybe just restricting him to one room/s that doesn’t have carpet in. Poor thing being left behind 🙁 i don’t know how cats would react to nappies, seen dogs wear them but I suppose it all depends on the individual animal
Id recommend getting blood tests done we just lost a cat to a parasite and he seemed fine except he was underweight and constantly eating
I think vets too and see how it goes.
Aww I would just try them and see how he gets on. If it doesn’t work then do what someone else has suggested and make him a small home just for him. Maybe another room or space you can block. It’s definitely age related.❤️
He’s probably got dementia and doesn’t know what he’s doing. Could he be restricted to only a few rooms so there’s less mess?
It is so lovely you have taken him in!
It’s likely to be age related, but could also be stress- he is old and just lost his owner… They are clever animals and he is probably aware he has been left behind 😔. It’s worth a vet visit as he may have underlying health conditions that can be worked with.
Thank you for being so kind to a senior cat and I hope he settles and sees his days out peacefully with you and your family ❤️
I was going to say it’s probably age related as I had a cat slightly older that was the same. I took him to the vet to have him checked over and he didn’t come home with me 😢 but it was the kinder thing to do in my situation even if it did break my heart ❤️
Thank you so much for taking him in. Would he perhaps use one of those training pads that you just place on the floor?
Reply yes it’s been to the vets he was riddled with fleas which have now been treated, he’s underweight but doesn’t stop eating, he’s quite a content little chap, it’s just the poop that’s the issue
