Hope this is ok to post. I don’t want to start a debate, but can I please get people’s experiences with the nasal flu vaccines please. I’m struggling to know what to do for the best

  1. I allow my children to have the flu nasal spray. When my youngest was 5 months old he caught the flu and was so poorly, was almost admitted to hospital, it was a scary time for me. He recovered well with the prescription of tamiflu but to see such a young baby so poorly was horrible.
That being said, only you can make the choice for your children. Things to consider are age, do they come into contact with people who are immune compromised, any underlying health conditions, understanding of good hygiene (washing hands/covering mouth nose when coughing/sneezing) but ultimately it is all personal choice x

  2. The nasal spray is live, the vax isn’t. I wouldn’t be able to have the nasal spray due to autoimmune diseases, so I wouldn’t get it for my kids either because I have no idea what’s happening with their immune systems. It’s a personal preference and your GP would be able to give you more informed info based on your medical history, or that of your children.

  3. My kids have all their jabs but I’ve not given them the flu vaccine.
I’m not against it. It’s got gelatine in it.
    We are vegetarian.
They won’t die from smallpox, polio, measles, and all the other diseases you see on child graves from a hundred years ago!
