Please can I have a post. My 17 year old daughter has spoke about her boyfriend moving in, his also 17 and he works full time, earns about £1200. What would be a reasonable about to ask him to contribute towards the house? Id do all his washing, dinners ect as if was my own child.

200/300 if your buying food xxc
I would say around £300 would be reasonable
I personally would ask for £200 a month, thats £50 a week and includes the basics. If they want extra shopping/snacks/treats etc then thats on them. I would say £200 a minth and expect them to save some money up too hopefully towards a mortgage or something along those lines. I wish I had the same when I was younger. I was too eager to get away from home
I have 50 quid a week off my son
I would say 200 a month would be reasonable, he will still have majority of his wage to spend on any extra foods for him and your daughter and travel expenses etc
What do you charge your daughter? Perhaps charge him the same. I would say £50 a week is fair initially, including having him assigned to some household duties. This could be altered once he turns 18.
I lived with my husbands family when we were the same age, £200 a month is what I paid then for all the same things, treated me as their own, washings done, dinners the lot. Only thing I had to do was buy my own toiletries. That was 14 years ago though x
Yes, my son and his girlfriend both pay board, only £150 a month but they eat out alot
I have an agreement that my kids pay 10% of their take home pay.
Given the cost of food and drink now I would say £40 a week is reasonable. Not including take aways and treats.
