Hi I’m looking for some advice please.
I’m a plus size girly and since I’ve been little I’ve been a big girl. I’m slowly losing weight sitting at 3 stone.
However my question is my son who’s 10 and autistic is constantly eating! He loves his vegetables and eats bananas and strawberries only but is constantly snacking! How many snacks do you allow your kids to have in one day?
I’ve told him nicely that he needs to stop and must ask me for a snack before he gets one. Fruit he can have at any point! I feel so mean saying no but I don’t want him to end up fat like me 🥴

Thank you

  1. Sometimes the more you say not to have something the more you want something, put it in a different way ask mummy before you have because when it’s gone I need to know to buy more, if you’ve taken it without me knowing then I won’t know when to replace. If not make him a special snack box where he can go in that throughout the day when it’s all gone it’s gone

  2. Does he eat enough protein? He also could be experiencing imbalance of sugar levels and experiencing that drop then wants to eat hence the constant eating

I would aim to give him 2/3 high protein meals and 2 protein snacks like cheese string or fridge raiders etc and see how he gets on

I don’t know what his diet is like btw ! So if he already eats a lot of protein then obviously disregard this

  3. Fruit also has a high sugar content so just be careful of too much.. everything in moderation.. also please don’t project your insecurities onto your child as it isn’t fair.. if he’s already had a snack and asks for another just tell him no as he’s already had one.. get him to drink some water or dilute juice to help fill him and make sure when he’s getting meals that it’s enough to fill him until the next one.. and then also plenty of exercise so maybe go a walk once a day or let him outside to play with friends so he can run about

  4. believe it or not fruit is not great for you, a little daily yes ok but apart from that stick with carrot sticks, cucumber and pepper etc also chicken or egg white is a great snack to have, but lots of kids and adults mistake being thirsty for hunger so encourage lots of water drinking

  5. My son is 12 he has a breakfast before school, he has lunch he drinks water hel come home and have a pack of crisps then dinner he’s then allowed one sweet treat, he dosnt take a snack for break time just his water, if he does have a sweet treat he dosnt have one later after dinner
    Breakfast
    Lunch
    Dinner
    One pack of crisps
    One sweet/choclate
    Water for drinking

  6. My son is all autistic & was doing the same. Hes almost 10. The snacks we put in his packed lunch ( he goes sen school so they alot more relaxed on what we can put in) We put them in a box ontop of the cupboard. He wont climb on the side to get them.
