Can I have some help in making the hardest decisions of my entire life. I am 46 years old and 17 weeks pregnant I have just had it confirmed that my baby will have Down’s syndrome.
I’m in two minds as what to do, I know I will love this baby but my age has to play a factor in this as a child with downs will require life time care and I’m already middle aged, have little youngest family who could take on the responsibility in the event of my death.
Or abort this baby and spend the rest of my life regretting it.
The other option is go fullterm and put baby up for adoption again I will regret this for the rest of my life.
What would you do in the situation?

Please don’t make your decision on bloods alone – it often is wrong! Only when you’ve had more accurate testing (maybe you have)
But to me with your message and mention of regret that deep down you know what you want.
If you want it, have it, if you don’t, don’t. Pretty straight forward.
Are they absolutely sure about the Down’s?
Firstly, I want to say that I 100% support a woman’s right to choose what to do in these situations. Secondly, you mentioned multiple times that you would regret not having this baby for the rest of your life. You know your answer x
If you want to be 100 % responsible for someone every single day for the rest of your life , do it.
If you think k you’ll regret that responsibility, do it.
If you think you’ll feel guilty forever, do it.
If you think you cannot do it, don’t do it.
Do what feels right not what guilt etc makes you feel
This is really hard my lovely and I only say go with what your heart tells you ….you do have to consider your age …and caring for your child in later life … but its your decision…I feel for you xx
I feel your pain. It’s not an easy decision but I think your second paragraph answers your question ❤️
By the way you’re speaking it sounds like deep down you want to have it but are just worried about consequences. Personally, I know it will be tough at times but I think the baby will be a blessing. Good luck in whatever you decide. I wish you well.
I was offered the test in my forties and I asked if it’s positive will you expect me to ask for an abortion. She said yes. So I replied no then. I have seen some lovely down syndrome children around our town and they appear happier than other children. The support is there these days. No I didn’t have a downstairs child myself. But he did have a couple of health issues with his immune system
Okay, well, you’ve already made your mind up because you said you spend the rest of the time regretting it for both of the lower two. So you pretty much know that you can do this until you pass..
But you never know, your child might just regain an independent life and not need other people to support them so much.
