I’m not sure how to even word this, but here goes:
Has anyone ever pressed charges for domestic abuse and somehow regretted it? I had to fill out domestic violence forms on my now ex boyfriend yesterday morning. He ripped off a good portion of one of my nails trying to grab a phone out of my hand because I was trying to call 911, and I have bruises and scratches on my back and sides from him picking me up and tossing me around.
I told the officer that I didn’t want to press charges at the time, but he said I can come back if I decide to change my mind. He’s a white guy with no criminal background, he comes from money, and I live in a state that treats domestic violence as a joke. I feel like he’d get off with barely a slap on the wrist. I’m worried that if I even try, it’ll end up just making things worse for myself. He’s definitely the type that would just make my life a living hell.
