Am I wrong for wanting to leave 1/2 my estate to my daughter in law?
My son passed away a year ago. He and my daughter in law were together for 30 years. Not legally married though. Their love was beautiful and his passing really hit her hard. Before he passed I didn’t have a will because I have two children and legally it would be divided 50-50 between them. My flat isnt much but It is in a luxury neighborhood (got it before it became a luxury neighborhood) and some savings. Now my son is gone I made a will to include my daughter in law to be instead of him. My daughter was very angry about it and she threatened to cut me off her and her children’s life. Did I do the right or wrong thing?

I think you’re a wonderful person for even considering this x
Did your son have children with his partner?
Unfortunately money can bring out the worst in people
Did your son have children?
Knowing her that long she would be like a daughter to you. I think it’s beautiful. Your daughter will get over it
If that’s what your daughter wants to do then let her…don’t let her try to basically blackmail you with not letting you see the kids just because things haven’t gone her way…I think it’s a beautiful and respectful thing to leave half to the daughter in law…it shows her that you respect the relationship she had with your son and it tells her that no matter what she is family, you seem like a wonderful person, you aren’t in the wrong here at all x
