Hi, could you post for me please.
What do people do with their children regarding getting them to listen and doing things. I have to repeat the same thing at least 3 times and always end up shouting it is driving me mental. Are all children like this? Mine are 5 and 7.

We will understand the mystery of the universe before we understand that one! Kids aren’t wired to listen, simples!
Say it once and then continue with an action or a consequence. If they won’t do something like put their shoes on to get in the car etc just calmly pick them up and put them in the car. If they won’t eat their meal, calmly remove their meal but DO NOT offer an alternative. If they won’t tidy their rooms, do it with them to show them how it’s done and then tell them they’re old enough to (attempt at least) to tidy on their own. Give them small amounts of responsibility like emptying their bedroom rubbish every Friday (the night before the bin men come) or unloading the dishwasher. IMO chn should not be financially compensated for helping with small chores that keep the home running.
