Hello, please can this post be annon.
I’m having issues with my partner of 6 years. He can’t bring himself to say ‘love you’ back to my boys and struggles with saying ‘good night’. He has been in my boys life since they were 4. They are now 10. He has said it back to my daughter… He also has a daughter who has been in my life for 2 years after a horrendous court battle. I ALWAYS say ‘night, love you’ to them ALL. His excuse is he won’t be forced into saying it… it pinches me every time and last night my son (who is usually a real daddys boy) said it and my partner refused to say it back. This isn’t the first conversation we have had over this. Please help xx

Maybe its time to re think this relationship
Your son picking on this and will have a effect on his mental health
Why can he say it to your daughter though???
What is his reasoning ?
I was going to say that he shouldn’t be forced but the fact your son said it to him and he didn’t say it back is a massive red flag to me.
Why is he only saying it to your daughter and not sons as well I find that extremely odd behaviour. I think you need to sit down and have a full and frank conversation about it with him and if the answers aren’t good enough it may be time to call quits on the relationship. If he can’t love all that comes with you then he can’t love you.
