Hi all
Has anyone on here asked their child’s school for a reduced timetable?
My daughter has autism and gets masking burn out and struggles a full week! I have asked school about flexi schooling where she is homeschooled 2 days a week and the rest of the days she’s in school and they have told me I need to deregister her and homeschool for a bit then reapply for a place as a part time student … I know this is wrong. I’ve asked for a reduced timetable temporarily but they have said no. She refuses to go in on Mondays and Wednesdays due to drama and french and she has so many unauthorised absences now and I’m worried I’ll get fined but what can I do when she is sobbing and hyperventilating and then getting angry or the night before doesn’t sleep at all until around 5am due to the anxiety. She struggles with all learning and gets no support or if support is offered it’s during break or lunch which isn’t fair … they won’t allow fidgets or movement breaks and I’m at my wits end now … can anyone help at all ?
Thank you

When I was at school as a child pre diagnosis to autism this was probably 25 years ago. I really had no choice but today society it might be different.
Does she have an EHCP?
Id be interested to know what school informed you of the incorrect information of de registering your child.? I would contact the EWO for your school and ask them to put a plan forward on your behalf for your child.
no what ever you do do not deregister or @take her out of school@ thay have to provide an education either tutors at home or what needs your daughter requires. Please no matter what pressure do not un register her
Yes my daughter last year was on a reduced time table.
She has really bad anxiety, like your daughter it was certain lessons that were triggers so we simply recovered the problem some days she would start around 10am instead avoiding assembly or a certain subject. If it were the middle of the day she’d sit in a the library and study.
She had this for a little while and it helped massively and helped her attend school.
You most definitely do NOT need to deregister her this is mis information.
If the mum in question wants to drop me a message with any questions I’ll do my best to answer them 🫶🏻
Does she have an EHCP? If so, I’d start there and get it revised asap. If not, she needs one asap!
You need to speak to your educational welfare officers as they deal with school attendance x
