Can I have this post private please.
My son is 2 and got the past year he has had a bad allergy to dogs. His eyes swell so much that he cannot open them, he itches him self until he bleeds and causes slight breathing issues.
My in laws were having him once a week, now he is due to start nursery they won’t be having him much, just maybe the odd occasion we need help on weekends or half terms.
They have been saying for a few weeks now that they want to get a dog, we said obviously we just need to be mindful of my son’s allergies but our concerns have been ignored. They said they just need to be selfish on this occasion. My partner (their son) messaged them last week to ask directly if they are definitely getting a dog, and his message ignored.
They announced in the family group this week that they will be picking up the dog in October.
They were due to have ours kids over night in October which we have had to re-arrange, this has been in the diary for well over a year, we have a wedding out of the area.
I am really shocked by the decision, and feel like it wasn’t even discussed with us. My son won’t be seeing them a lot now and I feel sad about that.

They knew the situation and made a choice, you make a choice. Simple really.
