Girl injured while preventing father attacking her mother with knife

A Class 10 girl sustained bleeding injuries when she tried to prevent her father from attacking her mother with a knife at Palanganatham in the city on Sunday night.

According to police, Janagamari, 36, was shocked to find a huge sword and a knife kept at home. When she asked her husband S. Vijay, 35, about this, he had reportedly told her that since he had lot of enemies, he kept the weapons for self-defence.

She had scolded him to throw the weapons away. Angered over this, the man had shouted at her and attempted to attack her with the knife.

Meanwhile, their elder daughter tried to prevent her father and in the melee, the knife inflicted bleeding injuries on her thumb. The man who ran away after it, returned home the next day and beat his wife up.

Based on the woman’s complaint, Subramaniapuram police have booked a case against the man for assault, using filthy language and under the provisions of Arms Act.
